Intro
Welcome to the Coast Lacrosse Newsletter! Here you will find updates from around the club, lacrosse tips, and more!
Coast LC Spotlight
We have so much to be pumped about lately.
First, we are so proud of all of the teams who competed last weekend at Sandstorm in Palm Springs. A SPECIAL shoutout to our 2025’s and 2030’s who won their championships.

We are so proud of the work those girls put in all year that culminated in big wins at Sandstorm. Hats off to them!
After Sandstorm, we were lucky to have Team USA’s own Ally Mastroianni with Sam Geiersbach in Carlsbad for a clinic. They absolutely crushed it on a rainy night and the girls who attended had a blast. Thank you to Ally and Sam!

With Sandstorm coming to a close and spring ball on the horizon, we have our eyes set on tryouts.
Tryouts for Summer 2023 are on FEBRUARY 5th at EARL WARREN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Stickwork of the Week
For this week’s wall ball, we’re turning to the greatest player to EVER do it, Taylor Cummings, for some insights into how she improved her stick handling all these years.
Follow this video from Taylor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD-VTfZ-i8s
A few points of emphasis:
Remember to keep your feet moving
Don’t worry about drops, just pick the ball up and keep it moving
Go fast, but don’t sacrifice good form/habits
Enjoy!
Recruiting tip of the Week
Be a reliable teammate.
As we’ve mentioned in past editions of the newsletter, coaches are evaluating the PERSON, not just the player. This goes for your upcoming high school / rec evaluations, our tryouts in February, and ultimately… the college recruiting cycle.
So, do what you can do to show coaches that you’re not only a good player, but a good TEAMMATE.
Offer to pick up the ball bag after practice. Encourage your teammate who might be having a tough day. Listen closely when the coaches are talking.
All of these things will look good to coaches, but will also just help you become a better player in the long run.
Win-win!
